Green areas will increase in Tashkent: micro-forests, new parks and shaded walking streets will be organised in mahallas

🌳 Within the framework of the nationwide “Yashil makon” project in Tashkent City, new measures aimed at landscaping mahallas, protecting trees and creating a more convenient ecological environment for the population have been determined.

Important tasks to be implemented in the capital were determined in the decision signed by the Hokim of Tashkent City.

🌳 Micro-forests will be established in mahallas
Micro-forests will be organised in mahallas with limited land areas, in the spaces between multi-storey buildings, and in the courtyards of schools and kindergartens. On areas of 200–1,000 square metres, the method of dense planting of at least 2 tree and shrub seedlings per square metre will be applied.
In areas where it is not possible to allocate land and which have concrete or asphalt surfaces, seedlings will be planted in large containers and small public gardens will be organised.

🌲 The seedling planting season will begin on 10 November
It has been determined that the autumn seedling planting season in Tashkent will begin on 10 November 2026. Preparation of planting areas, adjustment of irrigation systems, soil treatment and other necessary agrotechnical measures will be carried out in advance.

🧹Ditches and canals will be cleaned
Within the framework of the two-month cleanliness and tidiness campaign that started on 1 October 2026, ditches, drainage channels and canals will be cleaned of waste. Repair works will be carried out where necessary, and the territories will be prepared for seasonal precipitation.

🌳 A new approach to tree care
It is planned to introduce a composting and mulching system in the capital. This envisages grinding branches, using organic materials and directing them to the care of open soil areas where trees grow.

➡️“Yashil mahalla” and “Yashil lot” systems
From 1 January 2027, within the framework of the “Yashil mahalla” project, the introduction of the “Mahalla greening” package and the “Yashil lot” system is envisaged. It is planned to support citizens’ initiatives to organise green gardens and involve the public in seedling planting and care works.

🤔A “green programme” will be developed for each district
By 1 November 2026, programmes aimed at increasing the greenery level of the districts must be developed. They will determine specific objects, deadlines, funds and responsible persons for green parks, shaded walking streets, water-saving irrigation systems and tree care.

✔️The goal is, along with creating more green areas in Tashkent, to protect existing trees, care for them properly and form a clean, cool and convenient environment in every mahalla.
